Purpose of the guideline: The initial diagnosis and treatment of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) often occur in the emergency department. However, there are variations in the capabilities and treatment protocols for CAP across hospitals at different levels, resulting in varying treatment outcomes. In 2015, the Chinese Association of Emergency Physicians spearheaded the development of "Clinical Practice Guidelines for Emergency Community-acquired Pneumonia in China," which has played a significant guiding role in diagnosing and treating emergency CAP across all hospital levels. In recent years, there have been advancements both domestically and internationally regarding the diagnosis and treatment of CAP. To provide better guidance for diagnosing and treating emergency CAP in different regions, this guideline compilation group has updated and revised the 2015 guidelines.
