Equator Published the PRISMA 2020 Statement: An Updated Guideline for Reporting Systematic Reviews

The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement, published in 2009, was designed to help to improve the reporting quality of the systematic reviews. The first edition of the PRISMA statement has been published over 10 years. Over the past decade, advances in systematic review methodology and terminology have necessitated an update to the guideline.

On March 29, 2021, Matthew J Page et al published The PRISMA 2020 statement: an updated guideline for reporting systematic reviews in British Medical Journal (The BMJ). The guideline pointed out that the structure and presentation of the items of the guideline have been modified to facilitate implementation. And the new reporting guidance could better reflect advances in methods of a systematic review to identify, select, appraise, and synthesize studies.

On April 13, 2021, The Equator Enhancing the QUAality and Transparency Of health Research) network online published The PRISMA 2020 statement: an updated guideline for reporting systematic reviews. It marked that the PRISMA 2020 statement has replaced the 2009 statement to guide the reporting of a systematic review.
